Las Americas Linked To Los Cristianos By Music And Dance

As Friday nights go, 20th August could be one of the busiest for the sea front at south Tenerife. It all starts at 7.30pm when the Playa de las Americas Summer Carnaval parade sets off from Hotel Villa Cortes, a two hour slow meander will take the parade along to the Piramides de Arona further down the coast. It will be a colourful display of music and costumes with everyone invited to join in the fun.
The parade will pass within a few minutes walk of Hotel Bitacora and Hotel Vulcano but guests at Arona Gran Hotel may well like to head up that way to join in before heading back into Los Cristianos for the other big event of the evening. From 9.30pm at the marina near the tunnel connecting the two beaches, two days of great dance music begins. Bolero Nights features musicians and singers recreating some of the great dance music from hispanic roots. On Friday and Saturday night there will be seating provided for 3,000 spectators, then on Saturday afternoon from 3pm the seating area will be cleared so as many as possible can dance along to some classic Cuban music.
Just a typical weekend in Tenerife really, they love an excuse to give in to the music and the rythmns. Both events involve a huge team effort and hours of dedication but are FREE for the public to enjoy.
